Policy Change
Headed the national Embrace youth team that is working in collaboration with VCAA (Victorian Curriculum Assessment Authority) to change the Health and Human Development Study Design and the National Australian Curriculum regarding harmful Body Mass Index (BMI) practices, which has shown to cause
disordered eating among high school and elementary school students.
Lobbied the Australian Government to include Asian Dialogue in its strategy and implementation of technological-related approaches and initiatives for mental health, such as the Growing Minds Framework, by leading the youth mental health advisory support (supported by the University of Sydney and Northwestern University, IL, USA).
Leading a community-based research project in cooperation with the Foundation for Young Australians (FYA) to investigate mental health needs among 1400 culturally diverse adolescents nationwide.
Facilitated the development and integration of colourism and body image modules in India and Malaysia, impacting over 200 educators.
Spearheaded the collaboration with the biggest Indian mental health NGO, BetterSpace, to implement the eating disorder education module into schools in Chhattisgarh (state of rural India) impacting 590 students.
Hosted 2023 Victorian Youth Week Event to promote multicultural health discussions.
Examples of Policy and Inputs
In May of 2024, Eudaimonia was invited to represent youth input on healthcare systems for the United Nations development framework, “Pact for the Future”, hosted by the Major Group for Children and Youth. The inputs Eudaimonia lobbied for were successfully incorporated into the 1st revision of the Pact for the Future, which is due to be deliberated in the General Assembly of the United Nations.
